Engine Fire Risk Leads to 80,000 Vehicles Recalled by Ford

Serving Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura, and San Bernardino Counties and throughout California

Los Angeles lemon law attorney Howard D. Silver has become aware of overheating engines and fluid leaks that have led to Ford Motor Company recalling 80,057 vehicles across the United States. As released through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company is recalling Ford Escape and Ford Fusion vehicles, both from model year 2013.

Reports have indicated that engines in the vehicles may possibly overheat and cause fluid leaks. In turn, leaking fluid may land on hot exhaust systems, which may cause a fire. The affected 2013 Escape vehicles were manufactured from October 5, 2011 through November 26, 2012 and are equipped with 1.6L engines. The 2013 Fusion vehicles with 1.6L engines were manufactured from February 3, 2012 through November 29, 2012.

Currently, Ford is working on a remedy for the problem. The safety recall was expected to begin on December 7th, but Ford is recommending that owners contact their dealers or the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at (866) 436-7332. It is possible that Ford will provide alternate transportation for affected vehicles. The recall campaign number for Ford is 12S41.
