VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: What are important things for you to do as a consumer when you buy a used car?
One: Shop around. It's not just one place you can buy from. Look around. Drive different vehicles. Make sure that you're getting the vehicle that simply fits you; it's going to be around a while.
Number two: Shop for financing. You don't have to rely on the interest rate the dealer is offering. You can shop around at your bank, your credit union, different places. Make sure you get the best deal.
Three: Have it inspected somewhere else before you buy the vehicle.
Four: Review the contract.
And, five: Don't buy a vehicle that's too much for your budget or don't buy a luxury vehicle when you might be better off buying a compact vehicle; a less expensive vehicle that's going to be around in 3 or 4 years. If you buy a luxury vehicle that has a lot of miles on it, there's a good chance that it won't be around and you'll still be paying on that contract.
